When you email support, it helps a lot if you include: the iOS version you’re on, your Govu app version (Settings → About in the app), and a one-line description of what you were trying to do.
Getting started
What is Govu?
Govu is an iOS app that turns your photos and prompts into AI-generated images and videos. Pick a template or write your own prompt, optionally attach a photo, and tap Send. Each generation costs one credit.
How do credits work?
Every generation uses one credit. Credits are purchased through Apple in-app purchase and added to your account when Apple confirms the transaction. New users receive a small starter balance on first launch. If a generation fails on our side, the credit is automatically refunded to your balance.
Do I need an account?
No sign-up is required. Govu signs you in anonymously on first launch and keeps your history tied to that device’s anonymous account.
Troubleshooting
My generation is stuck or the Live Activity isn’t updating
Generations run on our servers, not on your device, so closing or backgrounding the app does not stop them. Live Activities and completion banners are delivered over Apple Push Notifications. If you have notifications disabled, the Live Activity may not update, but your render will still finish — reopen the app to see the result in History. If a render genuinely fails server-side, the credit is refunded automatically and the failed item shows in History with a refund note.
I didn’t receive credits after a purchase
Credits are granted by our server after Apple confirms the purchase, which is usually instant. If your balance hasn’t updated after about 60 seconds:
- Force-quit Govu and reopen it. The app re-checks your balance on launch.
- If credits still don’t appear, open the app’s Settings screen and tap Restore Purchases.
- If that doesn’t resolve it, email support@govu.ai with your purchase date and the Apple receipt (you can find it in your email or in the App Store under your account).
Restoring purchases on a new device
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Govu tracks entitlements through your Apple ID, so credits and subscriptions follow your Apple ID rather than a specific device.
Managing or cancelling a subscription
Govu does not manage Apple subscriptions itself — that’s controlled by Apple. To manage or cancel, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → tap Govu. From there you can cancel, change tier, or see the renewal date.
Refund requests
All in-app purchases are made through Apple, which means refund decisions are also handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase. If you believe a charge resulted from a Govu bug, email us first at support@govu.ai — we’ll investigate and back up a refund request with Apple where appropriate.
An upload won’t complete
If a photo gets stuck uploading, check that the device has a stable Internet connection and that you’ve granted Photos access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Govu. Then tap the failed upload and re-attach the image.
I’m not getting completion notifications
Make sure notifications are allowed for Govu under iOS Settings → Notifications → Govu. Live Activities additionally require Live Activities to be enabled for Govu in the same screen.
Privacy & data
What happens to the photos I upload?
Photos you upload are used only to produce the generation you requested. They’re stored privately under your anonymous account so you can re-open them in History. We perform no face analysis of any kind on the photos — no face detection, no recognition, no biometric templates — and we never use the photos for advertising, profiling, or AI model training. Source photos are automatically deleted from our servers within 30 days of upload. The full details are in our Privacy Policy → Face data section.
Delete my account and data
Email privacy@govu.ai (or support@govu.ai) from the address you’d like a reply on, and tell us you want your account, every upload, and every generated result deleted. We confirm receipt and complete deletion within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
